Relationship Associate (AVP), Public Sector Group, Corporate Banking (BCMA)

Relationship Management

o   Responsible for operational effectiveness of the client relationship across multiple products by helping clients to navigate Citi’s global network, local coverage and product support.

o   Build a trusted relationship with the client network and operational teams, becoming a key contact for routine credit requests/problem escalation and resolution. Field calls from clients and product partners and escalate issues as needed, navigating through Citi's extensive network of 100+ countries

o   Relationship Associates assist the Bankers with preparing for relationship reviews. These reviews are typically strategic in nature, a holistic review across the full spectrum of products and services, held with the CFO, Treasurer, and Finance Director.

·         Account Management

o   Responsible for timely origination/ monitoring/ renewal/ completion of KYC requirements across all products and marketing levels in partnership with product partners and relationship managers.

o   A strong understanding of Citi’s Transaction Banking product, particularly Cash Management, FX and Security Services

o   GFCID creation and maintenance including hierarchy linkages in CIS when the client requests services.

o   If there is no TTS Account Manager support, the Relationship Associate will manage the account opening process.

o   Serve as a contact for transactional banking issues by interacting with cash managers, assistant treasurers, and other treasury personnel from an assigned portfolio of clients

o   For LCs, monitor their requests against committed lines and ensure pricing is in line with Citi standards.

o   Ensure timely resolution and client satisfaction on all financial and operational investigations including credit, foreign exchange, cash management, trade services, etc.

o   May negotiate language for largely standardized FX/Derivative transactions, LCs, or working capital loans.

·         Product Partnership & Cross Sell

o   Engaging with product partners and Citi’s global network to identify revenue opportunities and to position certain products with clients.

o   Monitor revenues, billing and service queries, correct mapping/marketing hierarchies in CIS, to ensure revenues earned from all products are appropriately reflected.

·         Personal Client Effectiveness

o   Viewed by client as key relationship person for routine credit queries, negotiation of routine credit documentation, confirmation of support, negotiation of support documentation, problem escalation and identification of solutions to client issues 

o   Plays a key role in driving customer satisfaction

o   Supports the engagement and introduction of local coverage team; assists clients when navigating extensive Citi network, engaging appropriate local coverage and product and service support and delivery

o   Represents banking  coverage team in client meetings

o   Fully capable of driving resolutions to issues with limited guidance

·         Institutional Client Effectiveness

o   Demonstrates the ability to adapt and moderate communication style to effectively  co-ordinate Bankers, Product, Operations and Global Network partners involved in the client portfolio; Viewed internally as Client Owner

o   Engages and collaborates with network and product partners to support opportunities

o   Deputizes for the Banker, makes decisions and takes initiative in the absence of the banker; assists in closing transactions, when appropriate

·         Knowledge and Technical Skills

o   Ability to guide and navigate in support of execution. Sound knowledge of Citi's  product range

o   Clear understanding of the current banking relationship, return hurdles (for CB RAs),  relationship strategy. Contributes to development and execution of account plans

o   Sound knowledge of client's business and operations, industry trends, competitive positioning, etc.

o   Clear understanding of the client's treasury model and philosophy (funding model, cash management strategy, decision making, subsidiary support policy, wallet sharing, who is in the bank group, etc.)

o   Sound Knowledge of Support, Credit & Legal documentation requirements (e.g. Letters of Comfort, parent guarantees, LC's and their agreements, ISDA/CSA, Short Term Loan agreements, Cards Agreements, etc.)

o   Demonstrates the ability to articulate requirements and support the negotiation of documents with client and legal counsel

o   Proficient user of Citi's applications (e.g. ICG Toolbox and AMC)

o   Understands basic accounting concepts, reviews and extracts information from financial statements/filings

·         Credit Related

o   Facilitate credit originations, approvals, documentation, bookings, fee collections and renewals for Standby Letters of Credit. 

o   Facilitate credit allocation from Parent Account Management teams and Credit Risk Management.

o   Understand the bank's credit culture, adhere to credit policies and guidelines, and document and justify exceptions, where appropriate.

·         Transaction Execution

o   Manages multiple client requests and is recognized for driving resolution of issues

o   Supports execution of client solutions, is able to drive internal processes

o   Sources and prepares information for client presentations and relationship reviews. (Network, credit, facility, relationship highlights, etc.)

o   Maintains the correct legal and marketing hierarchies

·         Risk, Control and Capital Management

o   Sound knowledge of ICG's risk policies and the ability to apply them to specific situations

o   (CB RAs) Participates in FCR preparation and the enhanced due diligence required

o   Engages in the resolution of Compliance related risk issues

o   Proficient understanding of KYC policy, processes and regulatory environment

o   Drives credit approval process and demonstrates ability to provide balanced approval recommendations identifying risks associated & their mitigants with credit requests when preparing credit approval memos

o   Supports resolution of Compliance related risk issues


Education level and/or relevant experience(s)
Bachelor’s degree. 2-4 years of professional work experience (financial services preferred)
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration

Knowledge and skills (general and technical)
Credit skills/experience is beneficial (i.e. financial accounting, commercial lending theories, industry awareness, loan structuring, etc.) but with good analytical aptitude to learn, sound judgment
